Unusually
the pub has recently seen a surge in sales of mild. The pub is named
after a famous British naval officer who would have held a much greater
place in British history had he not been a contemporary of Horatio
Nelson whose deeds tend to overshadow him. Interestingly in the centre
of Macclesfield is evidence of their joint fame - two adjacent terraced
streets built about two hundred years ago are called Nelson Street
and Rodney Street. The pub is unusual in that it is in fact back to
fron. What is now the front of the pub on the main road was originally
the back whilst what is now the little lane at the back was at one
time the road through the village with the |

pub
facing it.
Anyway. If you fancy a trip out invest in a return train ticket
to Prestbury and see what you think for yourself!
